2006
CHARITIES
One
of the highlights of the Peak to Peak Rallye has become
the on-route stop that participants make for a worthy charity
recipient. For 2006, rallye organizers selected the Cedaredge
Public Library. We found that the Library was in need of
computers in which to begin computer training classes for
local youths and adults. Donated items included four laptop
computers, a desktop computer, a projector, and a $6000
check to help purchase other needed supplies.
Cedaredge
is a beautiful little town located on the southwestern slope
of the Grand Mesa. The drive over the Mesa is not only a
fabulous stretch of road to drive; it also proved to be
absolutely breath-taking due to the fall colors. Our stop
in Cedaredge coincided with our scheduled lunch stop for
that day. Pitts BBQ laid out a fabulous spread for
participants at the Cedaredge City Park while local residents
enjoyed a car show in which Peak to Peak vehicles were the
stars.
Our
visit to Cedaredge was concluded with the presentation of
donated items to an emotional and very grateful library
director, Mary Dobbs. It was certainly a special moment.
We are truly grateful to all of our participants for helping
to make a positive impact on this community.
