Peak to Peak Rallye Review
2007
marked the 4th running of the Peak to Peak Rallye. All reports
label this as the most enjoyable and most successful Peak
to Peak thus far. The highlights were many. The route itself
took participants through what can be considered amongst
the most spectacular in the country, and the overnight locations
provided fine dining, wining, entertainment, and some of
the best accommodations that Colorado has to offer.

Peak to Peak Rallye Announcement (12/1/06)
September
16-21, 2007
Well,
here we go again. With three events under our belts we're
confident we have a good thing going here and so we'd like
to invite you to join us for the 4th annual Peak to Peak
Rallye of the Rockies. It will be hard to top the roads,
scenery, and camaraderie that was achieved on the 2006 rallye,
but we're certainly going to try. Event organizers have
a tentative route in mind that would take participants through
central and southern Colorado, and northern New Mexico.
Overnight stops would be in Taos, NM, followed by two nights
in the popular Colorado ski town of Breckenridge. A two-night
stay in one location will be a first for Peak to Peak which
will allow for activities other than driving to be pursued
during the day that we'll be based out of Breckenridge,
for those that wish to do so. A trip to nearby Vail for
shopping or just to hob-nob with the "beautiful people"
could be one possibility.
The
reason that Peak to Peak was formed back in 2003 was to
create an opportunity to enjoy driving our sports cars through
some of the most scenic country on the planet, which to
further that enjoyment the event has been strategically
scheduled to coincide with the changing fall colors, and
although this will always remain our primary function along
with the social activities that occur during our time on
the road, we are proud to also be able to donate funds to
worthy recipient groups. This year the Cedaredge Public
Library was selected as our on-route stop. Rallye participant
entry fees allowed Peak to Peak to purchase several new
laptop computers which the library will use for computer
training courses for area adults and students. We were also
able to present a check in the amount of $6000 that will
be used for other pertinent supplies. And now for the third
year, the primary organization for rallye donations was
the Jeffco Action Center. This years donations to JAC totaled
$13,000, which was helped along by funds raised through
an auction that was held at our closing banquet. Items auctioned
off included a Mike Mate original painting that would include
the car of the winning bidder, as well as to be used as
the cover shot for the 2007 Peak to Peak route book. Funds
raised through the auction totaled almost $10,000. Thanks
to all of our Peak to Peak participants for helping these
quality institutions make a difference in their communities!
For
those of you that have yet to participate in a Peak to Peak
Rallye, we want to stress that this is NOT a high-speed,
escorted rallye, but an event that allows fellow sports
car enthusiasts to share their passion while touring through
the
majestic Rocky Mountain region. Not a bad way to spend a
week if you ask me! This event is open to all sports cars
(no sedans please) but as we will be traveling through some
desolate areas and higher elevations we highly recommend
late model (reliable) cars are driven.
Apparently
word of mouth has become a major promoter of this event
as we already have a sizable waiting list for 2007. As is
our custom, entries received from returning participants
will receive automatic acceptance if entry is received by
January 31st, 2007. After that date, any open spots will
be offered to those on the waiting list. We once again plan
to keep our entry level around 35 cars so we do recommend
that entries are sent in early to assure your spot in the
'07 rallye is secured.
As
the costs for hotel rooms are going to be substantially
higher than they were in 2006, and due to the fact that
food and beverage costs were a great deal higher than we
had budgeted, we've had to increase the 2007 entry fee to
$3600 ($3300 for locals not staying at the Golden Hotel).
This rate is still less than other rallies around the country
so we certainly feel this provides tremendous "bang
for the buck"!
To
secure your spot in the 2007 Peak to Peak Rallye, please
make your $500 deposit check (non-refundable if entry is
accepted) and send it to, Peak to Peak Rallye, LLC, 5889
Lamar Street, Arvada, CO 80003.
Happy
Rallying,
Harry,
