Road America, in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin, is an annual trek for the Mathews Collection and the one chance racing fans and potential customers have to see the McLarens in action on the track. Road America is the longest road course in the USA and one of the true classics in the world. It is a fast and challenging circuit that was part of the original Can-Am series. It is a beautiful setting in which to watch and listen to big block McLarens flying thru the countryside.

The annual July race, put on by Brian Redman, attracts over 600 cars of all types and features a 10 lap race for Can-Am cars as it's highlight. The 2000 event featured a classic battle of years past, McLaren vs. Porsche. We had three cars entered. Greg Mathews in the M8D in group A, Harry Mathews in the M6A in group B, and Mark Burgard in the M1C in group C. The Porsche 917/30 spoiled what could have been a family sweep, but Greg Mathews posted fastest race lap and finished a close second overall, while Harry and Mark both won their classes.
