It
is certainly unusual to make a Nash into a Hot Rod. The Nash in
the Mathews Collection is not only a Hot Rod custom car, but it
is also a pro-street drag racer. It has been built from a 2x3 box
frame that has been tubbed in the rear, which means the axle has
been narrowed so that wider tires could be added. This particular
Nash has four bar suspension and a Mustang II front end. The covered
front wheels do actually offer some degree of steering
The
Nash in the Mathews Collection is certainly a true competition car
and is thus fitted with a roll cage for serious drag racing, as
well as a GM Turbo 350 automatic transmission, just the right ticket
for a fast getaway.
